Pile Hammer: How It Works
The vibrating pile hammer utilizes high-frequency vibrations to imbue the pile body with significant acceleration. This vertical vibration modifies the soil structure around the pile, diminishing its strength. Consequently, the surrounding soil liquefies, reducing frictional resistance between the pile sides and the soil. Utilizing the excavator's downforce combined with the vibrating pile hammer and the pile's own weight, the pile embeds into the soil. For pile extraction, the hammer, still vibrating, uses the excavator's lift force to pull out the pile. The excitation force required is determined by a combination of factors: site soil conditions, soil type, moisture content, and construction requirements.
