How Does a Pile Hammer Work?
The vibrating pile hammer utilizes high-frequency vibrations to induce high acceleration in the pile body, transmitting vertical vibration to the pile. This process alters the soil structure around the pile, reducing its strength and causing liquefaction, which lowers the frictional resistance between the pile sides and the soil. The combined force of the excavator, vibrating pile hammer, and the pile's weight drives the pile into the ground. For pile extraction, the vibrating condition allows for the pile to be pulled out using the excavator's lift force. The excitation force required is determined by site soil type, condition, moisture content, and pile type.
